I just recently tried out the Hoyt VTM 34 and the Mathews Phase 4, and like the VTM a bit more. Felt like it was just a bit better in the draw cycle and felt better in the hand in my opinion. Wanted to hear others thoughts. Newer to archery and looking to upgrade soon. Stefmiesterb.I will say the Hoyt's DL felt short on both the 30 and 33 in comparison to the Mathews. I was surprised that the longer ata Hoyt draw cycle wasnt as linear as the 30. It had a small dump into the valley similar to the Mathews. The Hoyt 33 also had just a slight buzz in the palm of my hand and it wasnt as quiet as the 30 or the V3X.What is everyone's thoughts on the new short axle Mathews and Hoyt bows? Hoyt VTM 31 vs Mathews Phase 4 29.I shot the new Hoyt VTM 31, Hoyt RX7, and the Bowtech Carbon One before trying the Phase4 29. I now have the Phase4 29 in subalpine and quite enjoy it. It is quiet, fast for my draw length and after a 4 hour session at Austin Archery Club I can say it was pleasant without any stress on my arms or shoulders. And it is very quiet.I shoot my old Hoyt Vector 35 better than my Vertix, even though the Vertix is smoother, quieter, and less hand shock. I gotta move to a longer ATA bow. I have both and am currently reviewing the Phase 4. Agree that if you own the V3X you may want the incremental improvements delivered by the Phase 4.I shot a number of bows and narrowed it down to 3: Hoyt RX-7 Ultra, Bowtech SS34 and Mathews V3X 33. I'd be happy taking anyone of them home. They way I ranked them were: Speed (30.5" draw, 70 lbs, 450 grain arrow): V3X 33, RX-7 Ultra, SS34. Cost (with sales): V3X 33 ($950), SS34 ($1300), RX-7 Ultra ($1400)The Mathews has an amazing back wall. There is hardly any creep and it’s very solid. The Hoyt has a very spongy back wall. For that reason, Mathews wins this category. Speed. In my Bowmar Bowhunting video, I shoot both bows. With my Hoyt (85 lbs.) I shot 308 ft/sec. With the Mathews (75 lbs.) We have a lot of questio...They are almost the same bow IMO. The VTM 34 has a true center shot at around 3/4”, in other words the arrow is coming straight out of the bow at that distance. The V Pro 33 was closer to 5/8”. So I much prefer the VTM from that aspect. The VTM also has the hole in the riser for the drop away rest which is nice. The difference in weight is noticeable. The phase 4 feels like a tank. I also think the Phase 4 is smoother to draw with less of a dump. Not that the Lift is bad, it's just more noticeable. The phase 4 is also more "jumpy" on the release despite the weight difference. It feels violent compare to the lift.Mar 22, 2021 ...
